Adopt A Shelter

Take a moment and imagine your life in sudden and volatile brutality. You may think you’d simply walk away but you can’t for fear of more violence if you don’t succeed. You give up your freedom, your control, your happiness, and essentially, your existence. This is the life of a person living with domestic violence.

Everything they have and everything they know is taken away from them. Now you can take a stand and give it back. The San Diego Beauty Academy takes a stand against domestic violence by allowing your beauty school to adopt a local shelter in your area and help women in need.

Local shelters provide emergency shelter, food counseling and other services for women and children trying to flee from domestic violence. Some women are there with little more than the clothes on their back and some with very frightened children. For their own safety, they need to leave their homes, family and friends and are separated from normal, everyday experiences.

Your school can truly make a difference in your own communities by helping a shelter with activities such as fundraising bake sales, complimentary services for shelter residents or even collecting personal care items like shampoo and toothpaste for the shelters.
